Churches in Newton Parish

St Margaret

Town Street Newton Cambridge
http://www.harstonhauxtonnewton.org.uk/newton.htm

Christians have worshipped here for well over one thousand years since Saxon times. St Margaret's Church was consecrated in 1346, although, as a chapel, it had already been a place of worship for a long time. The Church registers date from the year 1200, as does the list of Vicars of the Parish with the first record showing Thomas de Brotford in 1277. At this period, the legend of St. Margaret was very popular and some two hundred English churches were dedicated to her, including fifty-eight in Norfolk alone.
